While many might take comfort in having a boss and taking directions as they go about their daily work routines, Joshua Richie has enjoyed working as his own boss since founding his company back in 2004, Josh’s Pro Detail. Since working as his own boss, Joshua Richie reflects on the many benefits of not having anybody to report to.
Richie particularly likes being the one in charge because he is totally in charge of his income and how much money he brings in. He gets to decide how much or little he wants to work in a given week. While he may not have as much flexibility as some since he is in the mobile auto detailing industry, he has complete control over his schedule and how frequently he wants to work.
Joshua Richie also likes working as his own boss because he gets to make the decisions and decide which projects to work on. As a highly motivated individual, he appreciates that he is in charge of whether or not his business succeeds or fails. As an established mobile auto detailer, he takes immense pride that his business has done such great work in the past eight years and remains a top competitor. Joshua Richie especially likes the fact that he can look book at his eight years of success and know that he accomplished it all due to his excellent work ethic and dedication to customer satisfaction.
Perhaps most importantly, Joshua Richie enjoys how challenging his job can be not only as an auto detailer but also as a small business owner. Initially most of his projects were on people’s cars that he already knew. When he had to branch out to reach a greater customer base, the work became increasingly challenging, especially for a busy high school student. Being rewarded with a satisfied customer base was definitely worth the effort for Joshua Richie.
