Josh Richie Likes Motocross Racing

From a young age, Josh Richie wanted to compete in motocross racing. Not only was he drawn to the competition and racing aspect of the sport, he was interested in the challenge of competing over rugged and choppy terrain where the track was outfitted with many obstacles.

Although motocross racing has forever been a competitive sport, it started out in the early 1900s in the United Kingdom as trials focusing more on balancing and tricks. As the sport became increasingly focused on racing along seemingly dangerous tracks, the sport became popular internationally.

As a car guy, Josh Richie enjoys the mechanical aspect of this activity and enjoys learning the ins and outs of what makes his motocross bikes tick. He appreciates that his chosen hobby is so closely related to his full-time job in the mobile auto detailing industry where he gets to work on cars all day. He enjoys many of the guys he races with because they too are interested in motorcycles and cars.

Josh Richie likes living in such close proximity to the popular motocross racetrack, Starwest Motocross Park in Perris, California. At just a half-hour drive away, Josh Richie is able to enjoy his hobby any day of the week. Owning his own mobile auto detailing business also helps in creating a flexible schedule so that he can attain a good work-life balance.

Although the sport can be incredibly physically rigorous and often times dangerous, that is all part of the fun to Josh Richie. Once he started motocross, it was hard for Josh Richie to turn his back on it. It not only introduced him to great people and many long-lasting friends, he learned a lot about motorcycle maintenance, which became useful to his career.

Josh Richie’s dedication to the sport through his high school years certainly paid off. He won titles in the 125 cc and 250 cc Championships two years in a row in 2004 and 2005.
